Whether your look is natural and understated or trendy and bold, we encourage you to take our beauty dare and introduce electric hues into your makeup this summer.

From gorgeous orange lips at Prabal Gurung to intense cobalt shadows at Marc Jacobs, fun colors were all over the spring runways recently. In real life, to avoid looking garish, choose just one feature to highlight and keep the rest of your face fresh and minimal. For example, if you’re going for a fierce red lip, just curl your lashes and add a coat of mascara. If you must use eyeliner, stick to basic black.

NARS Satin Lip Pencil in Timanfaya ($25): Red-orange lips will be huge this season, and NARS makes getting the look easy. A single swipe of this easy-to-use chubby pencil in Timanfayam, a richly pigmented fiery red, makes application a breeze.

Tarte Cheek Stain in Tipsy ($30): Intimidated by bright colors? This gorgeous coral looks intense in the tube but applies super sheer. Just pat it directly onto your cheeks and blend with your fingers to add a pop of color to your face.

Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Sculpting Lipstick in Dominant ($30): Estee Lauder’s newest line of lipsticks promises to shape, color, and define your lips in one application. The creamy formula softens lips and smoothes them out, to enhance the effect of the dazzling hot magenta. Perfect for a girls’ night out!

OPI Nail Lacquer in I Just Can’t Cope-acabana ($9): Whether you wear this on your fingers or toes, this lemon yellow polish from OPI’s spring/summer Brazil collection is a must-have this season. The sunny shade is such an easy way to celebrate these glorious warm days—hopefully coming soon if it’s been a brutal winter where you are.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Domo Arigato Nylon Cosmetics Case in Bright Royal ($78): The brilliant denim blue and bright cyan accent of this pouch is another subtle way to participate in spring’s bold color trend. Store your beauty essentials in the case and toss it into your weekend bag, purse, or beach tote to keep your favorites with you wherever you go.

Smashbox Photo Op Eye Shadow Trio in Blue Print ($28): Packaged as base, contour, and highlight shades, the sea foam green, azure blue, and rich violet make for endless possibilities. Try using a liner brush to trace your lash line in the deep purple shadow for a subtler look.

Covergirl Outlast Stay Brilliant Nail Gloss in Bombshell ($5.99): Show off your playful side by painting two coats of this luminous raspberry polish on your nails—we love the way the shimmery finish catches the light. Plus, Covergirl’s nail glosses guarantee a high-shine finish without topcoat, shaving precious time off your manicure.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Eye Pencil in Psychedelic Sister ($20): Urban Decay’s 24/7 eyeliners are a cult classic for a reason. The silky formula effortlessly glides onto eyes, making it blendable. But don’t worry—it dries quickly to a budge-proof finish that lasts all day. This electric purple is an easy, cool way to amp up a basic beauty routine.

Sephora Collection IT Palette Color Spectrum ($32): Sephora’s color spectrum palette is a fabulous way to introduce more hues into your shadow collection. The combination of neutral nudes, essential black, and trendy brights makes this the perfect investment for those who are eager to experiment.
