In celebration of Safer Internet Day, which is something that you'd probably never heard of before today, Google is giving all of its users a chance to earn 2 gigabytes of free storage on Google Drive by completing a Security Checkup on their accounts.

DON'T MISS: Yup, it looks like the iPhone 7 is going to be huge

It’s an exceptionally simple process that should take you less than five minutes to complete. Just head to this link, log in, follow the instructions, make sure no unrecognized devices have been logging into your account and claim your free data.

Google has yet to post an official blog post about the offer yet, but as Android Police notes, the promotion was available for a week last year. We'll probably hear something from Google soon, but in the meantime, you might as well upgrade your Drive account for free.

Even if you don’t use Google Drive for your cloud storage needs, it’s still never a bad idea to make sure your account is as secure as it can possibly be. Google has been making an effort to save Chrome users from fake download buttons and social engineering ads, but you can do your part by simply updating your password and changing your security questions.

If you want to know more about Safer Internet Day, which has apparently existed for at least two years now, you can read up on it at SaferInternetDay.org.
