Now you don’t have to spend money to buy a separate webcam for using video chat in Windows. You can easily use Android phone as webcam for your Windows PC.

It is very useful and simple software. You just need to install DroidCam in your computer and Android device. The DroidCam application is available for download from Google Play store and you can easily download the application from Google Store.

Once you are done with installation, there are four types of connections available to connect your mobile phone with your computer system and use it as a Webcam.

Mode of Connections

  • Using Wi-Fi connection: Using this mode, you can wirelessly connect your device with computer and use it as a cam. This mode is recommended as it is quite easy to set up. You just need to copy the details from phone and enter them on PC client. In this way, your mobile phone will act as a server and your PC will work as a client. So that now you can connect to an external IP and share your mobile camera with a PC
  • USB connectivity: This mode enables you to turn your mobile phone as a USB connection. This mode is recommended only if you don’t have a WiFi router installed. Some times this type of connectivity may require advance configuration due to missing drivers
  • Wi-fi Server mode: With this mode, your computer can act as a server and mobile as a client. This mode can be run as 3G/LTE. The mode is only compatible with the paid version of the mobile app, in this mode your computer acts as a server and the mobile as a client. The mode can run under 3G/LTE, so, that you can connect to an external IP and share your mobile’s camera to a PC from wherever you are
  • Bluetooth Server mode: This mode works just like the previous one and you must have a paid version of mobile app to use this mode

The DroidCam is becoming a useful application for those users who don’t have a webcam. Once you have successfully established your connection between phone and PC, you are ready to go. You can use DroidCam to chat with your friends and family using Skype or any other software.
