A heartbroken mother is furious after her daughter was allegedly hit by a car and left bloodied and unconscious on the side of the road with the driver nowhere to be seen.

Lisa Davey told 7News that her 10-year-old daughter, Alannah Davey, was out playing in a park near their home when she was hit by a car in Mount Barker, South Australia, on Sunday, March 25.

Alannah was found lying in the middle of the road injured and unconscious about 20 metres away from her home on Barker Road.

“I don’t know how someone could do that, how could you hit somebody and not stop?” Lisa said.

“I don’t know. She was unconscious and they just left.”

Fortunately, Alannah was found by passing motorists who rushed to her aid. Three women stopped to help the young girl before paramedics and police arrived.

Lisa said she was at home doing housework when she was informed of the terrible news.

The Good Samaritans told Lisa that there was another person who was there when they stopped but he disappeared when emergency services arrived.

“They told me there was another guy there when they stopped and he said, ‘she’s been hit by a car’, but then when police and the ambulance rocked up, he was gone,” Lisa told the news station.

“We don’t know who it was because they were too busy trying to help my daughter.”

The 10-year-old girl was then taken to the Women’s and Children’s Hospital with facial injuries, skull fractures and a bruised liver, reported 7News.

A resident in the area told the news station that traffic in the area is often fast.

Police are now appealing for anyone who saw Alannah leave her home on Sunday or anyone with any information about the incident to contact them, according to a statement.

Any dash cam vision would help with the investigation.

The distraught mother is now pleading for the driver to turn him or herself in.

“Do the right thing,” Lisa said. “Turn yourself in.”
