Houston, Texas Fire: Large Fire Burning in Downtown Montrose Area (+Photos, Video)

A large fire is burning in downtown Houston, Texas on Tuesday.

It was upgraded to 5-alarms from 3-alarms just after 1:40 p.m. local time.

The blaze broke out at about 12:30 p.m. on West Dallas near Montrose. 

Smoke and fire can be seen from miles away as flames engulfed the apartment complex and threatened to spread to other buildings.

Burning embers are floating among houses in nearby neighborhoods and traffic is snarled in the area, reported the Houston Chronicle.
