A flash flood warning was issued for all areas of Houston on Monday, the City of Houston’s website said.

“The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a Flash Flood Warning for areas of Houston west of Beltway 8 until 6:15pm,” the website says. “Heavy rainfall from the incoming storm system has the potential to overwhelm storm drains and cause flash flooding in the area.”

It added: “Remember, it only takes a few inches to float a vehicle, so avoid driving in low-lying areas, and remember to turn around, don’t drown. Residents may report debris in roadways or flooded streets to the Houston 311 Help & Information Line at 3-1-1 (713-837-0311).”

A tornado watch was also issued by the NWS until 9 p.m.
