Reports about the recent stand off between “House of Cards” and state of Maryland, kept fans anticipating about the future of the popular Netflix show and where Season 3 would be filmed.
“House of Cards,” is a Netflix original about a congressman who, with the help of his wife, plan revenge schemes on people who betray him.
The show is shot mainly in Maryland, but that could be changed, as the state didn’t provide the show with more in tax breaks. According to The Baltimore Sun, the Senate members did not reach an agreement on Monday, April 7, 2014, that would have provided $3.5 million in additional tax breaks for the upcoming year of the show.
Star actor and producer on the show Kevin Spacey sent a request to the Governor of Maryland, Martin O’Malley, requesting $15 million in state money for Season 3, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The show received $26 million in incentives for the first two seasons.
Spacey did not make a comment on his twitter account, neither was he interviewed about the future of the show, and the show’s screenwriter Beau Willimon said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal that he doesn’t reveal anything about the upcoming seasons of shows that he’s working on.
But he did say: “We’re several months into the writing process, and in a few more months we'll begin filming.”
