House Lawmakers Pitch Emergency 3 Percent Social Security Cost-of-Living Adjustment

House Democrats plan to introduce a bill to raise the Social Security cost-of-living adjustment from 1.3 percent to 3 percent to help seniors facing a greater financial burden amid the pandemic.

The Social Security Administration announced on Oct. 13 that the cost-of-living adjustment (COLA) for Social Security and Supplemental Security Income benefits will be 1.3 percent starting in January 2021.
