Homeland season 4 is set to start later this year (there’s no premiere date yet), and many people are wondering if Brody is really dead.

Brody is really dead, showrunner Alex Gansa emphasized to TVLine. “All the evidence points to his death, undoubtedly,” Gansa said. “I encourage [doubters] to watch the episode again. The issue has been settled. He is not unkillable.”

At the same time, it’s possible--but not likely--that Brody will appear in future episodes in flashbacks or dreams.

Another big question is what the pregnant Carrie is going to do next.

David Nevins, president of entertainment at Showtime, told reporters at the Television Critics Association Winter Press Tour that Carrie will likely start working as a field operative in a foreign country.

“This show is fundamentally about a field operative, and we really haven’t seen her much out in the field operating,” Nevins said. “The likely plan for next year is that you will see her on the ground in a foreign capital doing her job.”

The show’s creative team is still writing season 4, and will be spending time in Washington D.C. as part of their preparation.

The new story arc could last for one season or two seasons, Nevins said.

The third biggest question is about Saul. What will happen to him?

Saul won’t be working for the CIA anymore but he will be working with the agency. He'll be working as a private contractor.

“I expect that he will be central, he will be important,” Nevins said.

Saul will still have his beard, despite Mandy Patinkin shaving his off after the end of season 3.
