Do you have a finished basement? If so, you’re in luck - these can be huge selling points! But if you’re not staging the area properly, it won’t work to your advantage the way that it should.
For buyers, anything perceived as “extra” is always a perk. After all, you want to convince them that they’re getting a great deal. So wouldn’t you want to maximize a space such as a finished basement as much as possible? Of course you would - so don’t ignore the basement and assume that just the fact that it’s finished is enough to attract buyers. It should be staged with care and a designated purpose just like the rest of your home.
This basement had no clear purpose and really just looked like a place to store junk:
What staging this room, we decided we needed to define a clear purpose. In this case, it was to be a recreational area. We set up a chess table and arranged the furniture to make it functional as a comfortable seating area. We also added a bold red loveseat (to offset the overwhelmingly beige room) and added some accents such as throw pillows, books and coasters.
