With 325 retailers, lots of guest presenters, and expert advice abounding on a wide range of innovative products and new ideas, there’s probably not much chance of that happening.
Construction, renovation, and remodelling experts, contractors, home stagers, holiday entertaining tips, and creative cooking by some of Vancouver’s hottest chefs are among the highlights of this year’s show, held at the new Vancouver Convention Centre from Sept. 9 – 12.
Other highlights include budget-friendly home renovation ideas that will give the best value, as well as information on all the latest trends.
Celebrity guests include Bryan Baeumler of HGTV’s series “Disaster DIY;” David Adjey, an acclaimed chef and Food Network superstar; Janette Ewen, co-host of “Inside the Box” with Ty Pennington; and Wendy Russell of HGTV’s “She’s Crafty.”
For those who tend toward accumulating clutter, Russell, a member of the Professional Organizers in Canada, transforms messy, claustrophobic homes into pleasant, tidy spaces in no time flat.
Show features include a “Cook like the Pros” cooking demonstration, where visitors can sample exciting recipes made onsite and win culinary prizes; “Making an Entrance”—decorating your front door to create a lasting impression; and “The Green Room,” presented by BC Hydro to educate visitors on fact versus fiction regarding energy conservation.
For those wanting to regroup, relax, have some refreshments and check out which workshops to take in next, there is the Western Living Lounge designed by Erik Lauzon of Konstruck Design. A face painting and balloon art artist will keep the children entertained.
Show organizers urge attendees to come prepared with design questions. Many resources are available and exhibitors will share their knowledge on everything from home decor, art, design and furnishings, kitchens and bathrooms, to heating and air conditioning.
About 38,000 people are expected to attend this year’s show. For a full list of exhibitors, features and contests visit www.vancouverhomeshow.com.
Tickets at the door are $12 for adults, $9 for seniors (60+), $5 for seniors (Fri before 5 pm). Admission is free for children 12 and under.
