HONG KONG—Leighton Asia HKCC and Bloomberg Hong Kong Scottish, the two leading teams in the HKFU Premiership, both recorded victories in week-3 (Saturday Oct 11) of the competition, but HKCC edge ahead in the table with a massive bonus points win.

HKCC playing at home at the Aberdeen Sports Ground against Borrelli Walsh USRC Tigers had a day to remember running in 7-tries in a 41-0 points victory to earn a try bonus point. HKCC with their Rugby Sevens stars back from duty in the Asian Games added sparkle to the team’s performance.

At Shek Kip Mei Hong Kong Scottish hosted Abacus Kowloon and showed once again their fitness and agility against a stronger, heavier Kowloon pack. One try, 2-penalties and a conversion for HK Scottish to a single penalty by Kowloon pushed Scottish into a 13-3 lead at half time. Points were more difficult to come by in the second half mainly due to final handling errors halting what might have been successful runs. A break-away try late in the game gave HK Scottish an 18-3 win and four points giving them a total of 13-points to date, one point behind HKCC.

In the other match at Hong Kong Football Club, Societe Generale Valley outplayed Natixis HKFC giving them a 19-0 lead at half time. HKFC hit back scoring 3-tries and 2-conversions in the second half, but too many kickable penalties and the boot of Valley’s Reece Hamon, secured a 27-19 win for Valley.
