Hemlock Grove season 2 is being produced right now, with the release date sometime this year. The release has been speculated to be in February or March.

The season, which is 10 episodes, began production in mid-2013. Much of the cast is returning for the second season, including Famke Janssen as Olivia Godfrey and Bill Skarsgård as her son, Roman Godfrey.

Ei Roth in a statement when announcing the second season: “The worldwide fan response to Hemlock Grove was phenomenal. Netflix members loved the potent combination of sexy monsters, mystery, and the dark family soap opera that ended with a huge twist, leaving audiences worldwide totally shocked. Season 1 was just a warmup for what we have in store for Season 2. Get ready to be scared in ways you never expected.”

Laurie Fortier, one of the stars of the show (she plays Marie Godfrey), recently tweeted a photo showing her in an automated dialogue replacement session, showing further preparation for the upcoming season.

Landon Liboiron (Peter Rumancek), has also been tweeting pictures of what appears to be production. It’s unclear if filming has started yet.

Few details have emerged on the plot for season 2, but Roth gave a few hints to Hollywood Reporter before season 1.

“As much as I think Twin Peaks is my favorite show of all time, you can tell they never intended to solve Laura Palmer’s murder. I’ve talked about this to David Lynch and the network made him do it. And after that happened, they had to figure out a new mythology. We wanted to make sure that we had a long-term mythology that the murder at the beginning kicks off, and the murder is an excuse to dive into the world of this town of Hemlock Grove,” he said. “Once that murder is solved, which it is, it opens up a much larger mythology that gets played out over several seasons. We wanted to write something that would be deep and that would give the fans something that’s worthwhile to dig into.”

Roth also said that as the series progresses, he may go back and change things in the previous seasons.
