On June 15, southern China suffered from the fourth round of heavy rainfall since the end of May. According to the Chinese National Meteorological Center, the flood, caused by repeated heavy rain, is worse than expected. Due to the nature of this storm--the wide coverage, intensity, duration, and magnitude--130 hydrological stations in over 40 rivers nationwide have reported dangerous water levels.

In the past three weeks, the rainfall volume in Guangdong province has doubled compared to the same period last year.

The flood in neighboring province Guangxi killed 25 people and caused 830,000 people to evacuate.

In east central China’s Jiangxi province 100,000 people were evacuated. Because of a weather forecast indicating local showers for the next two days, the authorities have upgraded the flood warning from level two to level three.

In Chongqing City, having recently recovered from the earthquake damage, heavy rainfall in 17 counties have affected 260,000 people.
