Heather Mills, known for her past work as a model and as the former spouse of world famous singer Paul McCartney, announced that she will try out for the Paralympics in 2014.

Mills is looking to take a crack at the highly demanding skiing competition at the 2014 Paralympics that are scheduled to be held in Sochi, Russia, adding that she is ready to try out for the UK’s Paralympic ski team.

Mills lost her leg in a motorcycle accident in 1993 but has managed to sharpen her skills as skier in her free time following her divorce with former Beatles guitarist Paul McCartney, reported AceShowBiz.com.

“If I manage to compete, it would be phenomenal—very inspiring for all the kids that I counsel,” said Mills in a statement. “They didn’t believe they could do anything and they are now trying ice skating and rollerblading and biking and swimming, which is wonderful... Having loved sport my whole life, competing in a Paralympics would be a dream come true.”

Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Dmitry Kozak, says the games will be hosted with adequate arrangements that are already underway.

“Our aim is to raise the bar of the Games in Sochi and contribute to the Olympic movement development. Fundamental new engineering and road works are already noticeable in the city,” said Kozak.

Mills doesn’t have a history of competitive skiing but she has shown herself to be an accomplished figure skater. Mills was recently featured on Britain’s television series “Dancing On Ice.”

“I’ve been skiing for many years and I’m much better at that than ice skating, so I’m training hard to try to get on the British Paralympic downhill team,” said Mills.

The Sixth Paralympic Winter Games will be held between Mar. 7 to Mar. 16.
