Heather Locklear Returns to 'Melrose'

Actress Heather Locklear will reprise her role as Amanda Woodward on the updated “Melrose Place” next month. The primetime soap opera that was a sensation in the 1990s premiered anew this month on the CW network. The show has received disappointing ratings so far, despite the reappearance of former Melrose stars and famous cast members, such as Ashley Simpson-Wentz. Locklear will make her debut on the show on Nov. 17.

Brad Pitt Heading ‘Holmes’

Actor Brad Pitt is said to be considering a role in the upcoming Sherlock Holmes sequel. Pitt would take on the character Moriarty, Holmes’s nemesis. The first film is due to be released at the end of the year and stars Robert Downey, Jr. as Holmes and Jude Law as Watson. No deal has been finalized with Brad Pitt.

U2 Seeing RED

The band members of U2 will participate in a special event at Carnegie Hall—“An Evening with Gavin Friday and Friends.” Also performing will be actress Scarlett Johansson and musician Courtney Love, among others. Part of the (RED) Nights concert, the unique musical experience will donate a portion of the proceeds to RED, the charity aimed at fighting AIDS in Africa. The show takes place on Oct. 4.

Britney Spears Vegas Bound?

Celebrity news Web sites were buzzing this week about a possible Las Vegas special featuring Britney Spears and a forthcoming greatest hits album, after a Spears fan site published what looks like an a promotional poster for the Vegas event. The piece, appearing on breathheavy.com, announces that “A Night With Britney Spears” will take place in Las Vegas for television network ABC on Sept. 29 and will premiere her upcoming album The Singles Collection. These reports have not been confirmed.

Zeta-Jones and Lansbury Bringing ‘Music’ to Broadway

Actors Catherine Zeta-Jones and Angela Lansbury will star in the upcoming revival of Stephen Sondheim’s A Little Night Music. The musical marks the Broadway debut of Catherine Zeta-Jones. Lansbury, of course, is a Broadway legend. is scheduled to open at the Walter Keer Theater at the end of the year.
