A photograph snapped at a Waffle House showing a waitress cutting food into small pieces for an elderly man recently went viral.

The photo was taken by Laura Wolf, who posted it on Facebook.

“I don’t know her name but I heard this elderly man tell her his hands don’t work too good. He was also on oxygen and struggling to breathe. Without hesitation, she took his plate and began cutting up his ham,” she wrote.

“This may seem small but to him, I’m sure it was huge. I’m thankful to have seen this act of kindness and caring at the start of my day while everything in this world seems so negative. If we could all be like this waitress and take time to offer a helping hand.”

Numerous commenters lauded the waitress for being so kind.

“Kudos to this young lady! May we all learn from her act of kindness,” said one.

“Please, if you are in a restaurant & see this kind of LOVE from a Waitress, Please TIP them Over & Above, Over Flowing with LOVE!” said another.

The picture was snapped at a Houston-area Waffle House.

The waitress was later identified as 18-year-old Evoni Williams.

Williams told the Houston Chronicle that she didn’t know the picture had been taken until she saw it online.

“I didn’t know the photo was taken until a couple hours later. When I saw it, it’s just something I would do for anybody,” she said.

The city of La Marque will officially recognize the recent high school graduate for her act.

“City of La Marque is proud to have this thoughtful young woman working in our city and we'd like to acknowledge and honor her,” city spokeswoman Colleen Merritt said in a statement. “La Marque Mayor Bobby Hocking is passionate about our community’s youth and wants to encourage her dreams of attending college.”
