“Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft” sent out the final round of beta keys, with the developers urging those who signed up to check their e-mails or Battle.net accounts.
“The majority of the final round of invites to the Hearthstone closed beta test have now been completed,” wrote a Blizzard administrator on the Battle.net Hearthstone forums.
The admin added: “We have now directly flagged most Battle.net accounts that have met both of the following criteria: The account was opted into the Hearthstone beta test before January 7th. The account does not have a Hearthstone license already attached to it as of January 7th.”
The “majority” of the invites have been distributed, said Blizzard via Twitter. Producer Yong Woo wrote on Tuesday: “At this point everyone should be upgraded.”
“If your account was successfully flagged for beta access, your account was also sent an email with instructions on how to download and install the game,” the Blizzard admin wrote Battle.net forums. “If you cannot find this email for any reason, please go to your Battle.net Account Management page - The Hearthstone license should be visible under ‘Summary’ - ‘Your Game Accounts’ if your account was flagged for beta access.”
The game can be downloaded from one’s Battle.net account, but it first needs to be downloaded from the Battle.net desktop app.
It is not possible to get into the closed beta anymore until Blizzard opens it up. The open beta is said to be coming in early 2014.
“Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft” is a free digital collectable card game. There’s currently 382 cards for the game, and Blizzard said more will be announced at a later time. In the game, players choose nine “heroes” that are similar classes to the ones found in “World of Warcaft.”
The game is said to be first released for Windows, Mac, and the iPad. Blizzard said that there will be iPhone and Android games.
