A furious mother posted a rant on Facebook after none of the dozen kids invited to her four-year-old son’s birthday party showed up.

The parents of the guests either failed to reply, or said they couldn’t make it. Several said they could but later changed their plans.

Sobbing quietly in her bedroom to try not to further upset her child, Rachelle Briannan of Melbourne took to the mother’s group Midnight Mums to express her devastation.

“So I’m sitting in my room quietly crying. Twelve kids were invited to my son’s party today, and an hour before every one of them cancels or just doesn’t reply to my msgs,” she said.

“My son just turned four and this is the first time he’s really understood the whole party with friends thing. My heart is literally broken for him! What the hell can I do to make this up to him?”

The moms responded to Briannan’s plea for help, and arranged for a party at a McDonald’s in Eltham to celebrate the birthday.

In the end, 55 people turned up, including 30 children Taenon had never met.

A post on the group’s Facebook wall read afterwards:

“The Midnight Mums community rallied together online with hundreds of birthday wishes for Taenon flooding our newsfeeds and touching the hearts of our members with this feel good story right across Australia and beyond.”
