Hassan al-Laqqis, also known as Hassan al-Lakkis, was assassinated overnight, Hezbollah said on Wednesday morning.

Al-Lakkis, one of the leaders of the Islamic Resistance, was assassinated outside his house in Beirut, a statement from the group, commonly known as a terrorist organization, said.

Hezbollah accused Israel of assassinating al-Lakkis, reported the Daily Star

“The Israeli enemy tried to kill Lakkis many times ...but its attempts have failed until this foul assassination overnight,” the party said. “This enemy should bear full responsibility and all the consequences of this heinous crime,” Hezbollah threatened.

Hezbollah fought a 34-day war with Israel in 2006.
