Hamas, Palestinian Groups Refuse Direct Talks
Hamas and 10 other Palestinian organizations said on Sunday in Damascus, Syria, that they do not support resuming direct talks between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

The groups signed a statement declaring their intention just hours before president of the Palestinian Authority, Mahmoud Abbas,a was to meet with United States officials to discuss resumption of talks with Israel, according to AFP.

The organizations say that U.S. policy will “mask Israel’s plan to expand the settlements, Judaise the land, gain control of Jerusalem and maintain the Gaza Strip blockade,” according to the statement translated by AFP.

The Islamic Jihad, the Popular Front, and the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine, were among the groups that signed the statement.
