“Halo 5” could get an announcement or release date during E3 after a Microsoft executive confirmed there will be news at the conference later this year.

Microsoft executive Phil Spencer, via Twitter, wrote that “Halo news will be coming at E3. 343i has a great plan in place, will be cool to share with everyone.”

There’s been rumors, however, that “Halo 5” won’t be released until next year, according to Gamespot.

But there appears to be plans to make another “Halo” game, whatever it’s called.

“We’re proud of what we accomplished with our first release in Halo 4 and now we’re focused on something much more transformative as we make the leap to the next generation of Xbox,” 343i executive producer Josh Holmes said, according to Gamespot.

“We showed a hint of what we have in store at E3 last year and we’re excited to share more in the not-so-distant future,” he continued. “Please be patient--we can’t wait to show you what we have in store.”

Holmes was referring to last year’s E3 trailer that shows a caped man in the desert, which is revealed to be Master Chief.

And according to CinemaBlend, a leaked summary of the game says character Master Chief might come across “a new battery of challenges and tests in a Herculean effort to stay alive in a galaxy where sentient life is mercilessly hunted.” Microsoft later denied the rumor.

Official Xbox Magazine indicated last month that “Halo 5” will be released in 2014. “Halo 5: It’s coming this year!” the front page of the magazine reportedly says.

Earlier, Steve Downes, the long-time voice actor of Master Chief, told Gamezone that the game might not come out in 2015.

“I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5,” Downes said. “I wouldn’t expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2.”

However, other reports said Microsoft downplayed the comments made by Downes.
