A man on Thursday ran into a FedEx plant in Chicago and opened fire before he turned the gun on himself, taking his own life, local media reports said.

Witnesses told The Chicago Tribune that the man entered the facility in the morning, got in a vehicle, and started firing. There were no reports of injuries or deaths other than the shooter.

“He came in wielding a gun,” a FedEx employee told the newspaper. “He got into a vehicle and started firing. People were trying to hide under other vehicles, they were running outside, they were taking cover.”

After a moment, “He just kept firing,” the employee added. “We locked our doors and stayed away from the windows.”

The Tribune reported that the man was a former employee but local NBC and ABC stations disputed the fact and said he may have been the husband of a current FedEx employee. Police told NBC they classified the incident as a “domestic dispute,” and did not release the name of the gunman.
