Groupon Rejects Google’s $6 Billion Offer

Internet social couponing website Groupon has rejected a $6 billion buyout offer from search engine giant Google Inc., according to New York Times’ Dealbook, speaking with insider sources. Groupon, based in Chicago, Ill., is the Web’s largest social couponing website and is viewed by Google to hold immense potential. According to the Dealbook, Groupon is earnings revenues in excess of $1 billion per annum. Currently, Groupon boasts more than 35 million members in 300 regions. Had Groupon accepted Google’s bid, it would have become Google’s largest single acquisition in its company history.
