A groom has filmed the terrifying moment his wife was bitten by a shark while they were on honeymoon.

Sarah Illig was swimming in the clear waters of the Caribbean when a nurse shark lurched towards her.

Footage captured by her husband, Evan Carroll, shows the shark suddenly biting into her arm. She quickly recoils and swims as fast as she can away from the predator.

“I felt a whoosh of water, something clamped down on my arm and I assumed my husband was playing a prank on me,” she said, according to the Sun.

“Less than a second later I realised how much it hurt and looked past where my goggles were blocking my side vision to see the shark (bigger than myself) latched on to my arm.”

According to the National Geographic, nurse sharks are mostly harmless to humans.
In an Instagram post, Sarah shared the video with the description, “Ended the hunnaymoon with a bang (bite) check out the surprise and very rare nurse Shark bite in the video and don’t forget the volume to hear the crunchhhhh.”

Concerned friends asked if she was ok, with one asking if she had lost any skin in the attack.

She replied, “yes! If we were home we would have gotten some stitches but it worked out not getting them!”

“Only had a bunch of flesh wounds along my arm. We were worried about staph or another infection but it’s healing great!”

She added, “Scared the heckkkkk out of me! Evan had the GoPro under water filming and couldn’t even tell it happened since he was above water!”
