Grey’s Anatomy season 10 wrapped up last month and fans are waiting anxiously for season 11.
The ABC show will continue without Dr. Cristina Yang as well as Tessa Ferrer and Gaius Charles in regular roles.
Ferrer and Charles may return as guest stars.
Other regulars, on the other hand, are set to return, including Meredith Grey, Miranda Bailey, and Derek Shephard.
Some new spoilers have come out recently, including a dismissal of a rumor that show creator Shonda Rhimes is going to kill off Meredith.
“Mer isn’t going anywhere anytime soon. A Mer-Der break-up also seems unlikely, but there has been unconfirmed buzz that the duo are about to face one of their more challenging seasons in recent memory, which makes the timing of Cristina’s exit horrible for Mer,” reported TVLine, citing sources.
Other insight into the season comes from Rhimes herself. She told a fan recently that Izzie will “probably” not be coming back to the show.
Rhimes also revealed that work has started on season 11.
“I’ve had a great day in #GreysAnatomy writers room today!” she said late last month. “Plus I got antibiotics for my sinus infection so I’m on the mend! Yay medicine!”
As for a projected premiere date, ABC has confirmed that season 11 will premiere in September 2014, and that it will air Thursday nights at 8 p.m. EDT. Based on past premiere dates, the season will likely begin on September 26.
Also, just like season 10, the season will be split into two parts. The first part will air on consecutive nights through mid-December. The second part of the season will start in late February and run through mid-May.
