Carrie Underwood to Sing ‘National Anthem’

“American Idol” winner turned American superstar Carrie Underwood will take on America’s National Anthem before the biggest game in American sports. The National Football League announced Thursday that both Underwood and Queen Latifah will take part in the pregame festivities of Superbowl XLIV—Latifah singing “America The Beautiful.” This year’s big game airs live from Sun Life Stadium in Florida on Sunday, Feb. 7 on CBS.

‘Poltergeist’ Actress Passes Away


Actress Zelda Rubinstein died on Wednesday in Los Angeles at the age of 76, according to reports. The four-foot-three-inch woman had a full career in Hollywood, but is most famous for her portrayal of the mysterious Tangina Barrons in the hit movie Poltergeist and its sequels. Her famous line, “Go into the light,” is part of movie history.

Lucy Liu is Broadway Bound


Actress Lucy Liu is gearing up for her Broadway debut in the comedy God of Carnage. Liu has enjoyed great success on television (with her breakout role on “Ally McBeal”) and on the big screen starring in films such as Charlie’s Angels and Kill Bill. She will be joined on stage by Jeff Daniels, among others, as the new cast of the award-winning play takes over on March 2.

Justin Timberlake Heads for Harvard


Pop star-actor and former mouseketeer Justin Timberlake will be honored at Harvard University next month when he is named Hasty Pudding’s Man of the Year. The legendary theatrical club announced its choice on Wednesday saying, “Justin was chosen for being one of pop culture’s most influential entertainers.” The 28-year-old will receive this honor on the Massachusetts campus on Feb. 5.
