A grandpa who has been the only male in his family for several generations—all sisters, daughters, and granddaughters—got a pleasant surprise when he visited his daughter who had just given birth in Breese, Illinois.
James Patrick walked into the hospital room on his 49th birthday to find a baby that he was told was a girl.
“So what do you think about of another baby girl?” his daughter asked him.
He doesn’t respond but as she slowly pulls away the baby’s fingers and takes off a blanket, Patrick sees “FYI: I’m a boy!” written on the baby’s onesie.
“What? Where'd you get that?” he asks.
“I ordered it,” she said.
“Why?”
“Because it’s a boy.”
The whole family, including the couple’s 4-year-old daughter, were in on the secret except for him.
After calling his family “brats,” he wipes away tears and says “Really? I might want to check.”
They had known since she was 20 months pregnant, according to Caters News, but Patrick’s daughter, Carie Elbe wanted to keep it a secret until she gave birth.
