Internet giant Google Inc. expects to reach a decision on its future in the Chinese Internet market soon, CEO Eric Schmidt told reporters at the Abu Dhabi Media Summit this week.

No timetable was given by the Google executive, except that a decision would be reached soon, Schmidt reportedly said. The company said in January that it would stop censoring its search results in China, at the risk of being banned by the Chinese Communist regime.

“Google is firm in its decision that it will stop censoring our search results for China,” Google Vice President and Deputy General Counsel Nicole Wong told the House Foreign Affairs Committee last month.
