Going ‘Woke’ Doomed Boris Johnson’s Premiership: Trump

Going “woke” cost former UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson his political career, according to former President Donald Trump.

Trump’s comments were made in an Oct. 4 interview with Laurence Fox on GB News, a free-to-air television and radio news channel in the UK.

Fox, who recently played President Joe Biden’s second son in Breitbart’s film “My Son Hunter,“ is filling in for Nigel Farage on the GB News prime-time show ”Farage.”

“I think the biggest problem Boris has is [that] he went liberal all of a sudden, he went to the other side ... He’s a good man, but something happened to him. He changed,” Trump said, pointing to Johnson’s ousting from his post in July.

According to Trump, the UK leader lost trust and love from people as he became less conservative. “He went a little bit ‘wokier’ than I believe he really is. “ Trump said.

Trump attributed Johnson’s political failure to his leftist stance.

“I think ultimately, that was the thing that really got him out. I don’t believe it was the party,“ he said, referring to the scandals that led to Johnson’s ouster. ”I think the party was just an excuse,” Trump contended. “He became much less conservative and I think a lot of people didn’t like it.”

Respect for Prime Minister Liz Truss

The former president praised current Prime Minister Liz Truss’s economic policy. “I like some of the things she’s done,“ Trump said, adding ”A lot of times finance is inverse.”

Trump noted that Truss’s economic philosophy resembles his direction as president. “I cut taxes very substantially and we did much more business. She’s done that. I know she’s taken some hits for it, which surprises me,” Trump said. “It could be that at the end of the [day], there will be bigger revenues. It’s going to be very interesting.”

The former president emphasized his support of the UK leader, despite the public criticism that she is facing, saying he thinks very highly of her.

“What she did is very inverse to what some people thought, but that doesn’t mean they were right. I have a feeling she might be right,” he noted.

Fox invited Trump to comment on the “famously outspoken” Charles III and his support for the woke agenda and the Green New Deal. Trump spoke about his relationship with the monarch, saying that they got along well with each other.

“He has a strong view on things,” the former president said, but opined that the new king will avoid expressing leftist inclinations. “I think he’ll probably not discuss certain elements of what he believes,” Trump said.

Trump again teased a 2024 presidential run in comments to Fox, who is substituting for Brexit leader Nigel Farage on the outlet.

“If I promised to play you in the movie ‘Trump 2024,’ will you run for president again?” asked the anchor.

“Oh I think I’d have to consider that strongly,” Trump replied, adding that recent polls have favored him.
