NEW YORK—Godiva Chocolatier unveiled a chocolate paradise in Manhattan on Wednesday. On the 21st floor of the Bryant Park Hotel is a room filled with the makings of a chocolate-lover’s dream.

Renowned interior designer Jonathan Adler lent his skills in the creation of the suite. Carefully placed chocolates compose a full-walled mosaic in the living room, chocolate artwork hangs on the walls, and two life-sized chocolate statues overlook the dining room, while other edible treats decorate the rest of the suite.

A stay for two at the 2009 Godiva Decadence Suite is the grand prize of famous chocolate maker’s annual Valentine’s Day sweepstakes. The winners will be the first and only to stay in the three-roomed suite. The suite was unveiled during a press event on Jan. 28. Among those attending the unveiling were designer Jonathan Adler and actress Brook Shields.

“It’s meant to give women something to dream of. It’s an over-the-top prize,” said Godiva Director of Public Relations Erica Lapidus.

Last year, Godiva offered a stay in the first Decadence Suite to the winner of their sweepstakes. According to Lapidus, this year, they chose to take it up another step. “To bring it up to the next level we partnered with Jonathan Adler. So you’ll see as you walk throughout this suite, it’s really an integration of Jonathan’s signature pieces and recreated in chocolate,” she said.

Each room, a chocolate work of art, is inspired by a different collection of Adler’s. The two life-sized statues of a man and a woman in the living room are chocolate recreations of his signature pottery “man” and “woman.” Beneath the glass of the dining table, a chocolate mosaic borrows a signature pattern from his Bargello Collection, while a pillow in the bedroom shares the same pattern.

“What was really enjoyable with this project was the creative process of working with Jonathan and our chocolates and coming up with how best to bring it to life,” she said. “What was most fun was seeing it come to life and really have fun with it and play with it.”

Lapidus said that a chocolate chess set in the living room was among the more entertaining of the creations. “The chocolate chess set is created with our dark and white demitasse as the board and each of the chess pieces are made of our chocolates,” Lapidus said.

The king on the chess set is made from Godiva’s Lion of Belgium chocolate, while the queen is topped with their Lady Godiva Medallion.

“It’s a lot of fun. It’s playful. As you take a piece from your opponent you can actually eat the piece.”

In addition to staying in the suite, the winners of the Godiva Valentine’s Day sweepstakes will also be treated with several chocolate themed activities, among which is a private tasting in Godiva’s Rockefeller Center boutique and a dinner for two at one of New York’s top restaurants. They will also go home with a year’s supply of Godiva chocolate.

All Godiva Valentine’s Day chocolate boxes marked with a heart are all that’s needed to enter the sweepstakes. The winning box contains a card announcing an instant winner.
