Gloria Loring, Robin Thicke’s mom, doesn’t understand what Miley Cyrus was doing while performing with Thicke at the 2013 Video Music Awards.

“I don’t understand what Miley Cyrus is trying to do. I just don’t understand. I think she’s misbegotten in this attempt of hers,” Loring said. “And I think it was not beneficial.”

Thicke and Cyrus have drawn intense scrutiny after a performance many deemed too sexually charged.

Thicke’s father, Alan Thicke, said the dance was completely in line with the award’s stated mission of “shock and awe.”

Gloria Loring doesn’t agree.

“The problem is now I can never ‘unsee’ it,” she said.

She did say she loved Robin Thicke’s black and white suit.

Billy Ray Cyrus, Miley’s father, later said that he'd always support his daughter.

“Of course I’ll always be here for Miley,” he said. “Can’t wait see her when she gets home. She’s still my little girl and I’m still her Dad regardless how this circus we call show business plays out. I love her unconditionally and that will never change.”
