What I am looking forward to most in the coming year is good health, I think. Yes, good health that is the most important thing. Besides health, a happy family life is very important for me. That is what I feel. Good academic results are also important.

Mark Rushton, 50, Sports Administration, Treasurer of Blowfly Cricket

Good health for myself and for other people that I care for, especially the autistic kids, and the development of the program further. That’s what I’m most looking forward to. We have two centres now. The program is a form of cricket for children with autism, a modified form of cricket [called blowfly cricket]. It’s non-competition, people go out there and have a good time, and we cater to not just a child, but the siblings, parents, grandparents. And it goes for about 2 hours maximum on a Saturday afternoon.

NOTE: Blowfly Cricket is a hybrid form of cricket for children with autism, Asperger’s, Down’s syndrome, mental illness, age range 4 to 18.

In this coming year, I would say I am mostly looking forward to being able to more effectively impact my environment in the most positive and creative way—from my garden, to my kitchen, to my office, to my social surroundings. As well as adapting a more self-accepting, less judgmental attitude of myself and others. I wish this for everyone else as well.

The thing I’m looking forward to the most in the new year is basically trying out new interests and trying to get over bad habits from the past. I try to look for something better if the past year hasn’t been great to me. It’s just I believe in a new beginning and the new year is always a good start for everything.

I just hope that there won’t be any bad accident or events that happen in my family. And I’m hoping for good health for myself, my family and friends. I also hope we have a reasonable mild winter.
