EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ - The New York Giants have agreed to a deal with former Vikings QB Josh Freeman.

Per team source, the deal is a 1yr deal and expected to  be under $5M.

The Giants were not optimistic about QB Eli Manning’s health. Manning recently underwent arthroscopic left ankle surgery and Dr. Anderson told him that he should be up and running in about six weeks.

Freeman only started one game for Minnesota and it was against the Giants. According to Pro Football Talk, he went 20-53, 190 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.

Freeman,26, may have to compete with the other quarterbacks on the Giants’ roster like Curtis Painter and Ryan Nissab. Because of Freeman’s experience, he may have slight edge in being the backup for Manning.

More to come.....
