Are you a dog person or a cat person? Because there may not be a critter in the world that can hold a candle to this enchanting Maine coon feline!

Move over Simba, and let Lion Lotus take over!

Lotus is huge, with his extra tufts of fur on his paws that look like snowshoes. His eyes are so colorful they will mesmerize you in an instant. His shaded golden and white coat and bushy tail are softer than a cloud. As soon as you stroke his silky pelt, you’ll be transported to la-la land.

His name suits his soft yet tenacious nature. Lotus is a star and he knows it. That’s why his owner has started an Instagram account for him, where he regularly shares photos of himself—sometimes of his cat buddies, too.

Lotus’s animated personality has literally drawn thousands of followers from all over the world. Though tipping the scales at 16 pounds and 2 ounces (approx. 7.3 kg), he is worth his weight in gold.

His element is the snow, as you can see from some of these photos. Maine coons are known to love water, too, for some unknown reason. They also make excellent farm cats. Bred to hunt pests, they are especially good at keeping nasty rodents at bay.

Maine coon cats are intelligent, trainable, and described as “dog-like,” according to a website dedicated to the breed.

“They will offer you hours of enjoyment with their antics but can at times be intrusive. Without question they want to be part of everything and your privacy may require a closed door between you and your cat.”

So, if you can’t make up your mind whether you are a dog or cat person, never mind; there is hope for you yet—that’s if you can handle the magic of the Maine coon cat!
