HFPA President Philip Berk made the announcement, noting that the title is usually given to the daughter of a well-known celebrity that is associated with the event.
“We are thrilled to have Gia as this year’s Miss Golden Globe,” Berk said in a statement. “She is just as talented as she is beautiful and will surely be a great addition to the show.”
The show is slated to air on Jan. 16 on NBC.
“I am honored to be part of this wonderful ongoing tradition created by the HFPA,” Mantegna, 20, said in a statement. “I have grown up watching the Golden Globes with my family and feel so fortunate to be part of such a magical evening, so early on in my career.”
Joe Mantegna has appeared in numerous movies like The Godfather Part III, Forget Paris, and Three Amigos. He also voices the recurring mafia boss character Fat Tony on The Simpsons.
His daughter has also appeared in films, such as 2003's Uncle Nino. In 2006, she starred in the Warner Bros comedy Unaccompanied Minors.
