Ghetto tours stopped: A company has stopped giving tours through a “ghetto” in the Bronx, it was reported.

The bus tour, offered by Real Bronx Tours, gives tourists “a ride through a real New York City ‘GHETTO,’” reported The New York Post. The tour recently drew criticism from local politicians.

The tour includes stops at food bank lines and a so-called “pickpocket” bank,” according to the paper.

On the tour, guide Lynn Battaglia mocked the Grand Concourse, which was modled after a street in Paris. “Do you feel like we’re on the Champs-Elysées?” she asked French tourists, reported the Post.

The tour is offered three times per week at a price of $45.

The Associated Press reports that the tour gives people a glimpse of what the Bronx was like in the 1970s and 1980s, when crime was much higher.

“This borough was notorious for drugs, gangs, crime and murders,” reads the tour website.
