The opossum Heidi, famous for her crossed eyes, will go on live US TV for this year’s Academy Awards. During the ABC show Jimmy Kimmel LIve! she will pick a winner in every category, Süddeutsche Zeitung reports.

Heidi, who resides in a Zoo in eastern Germany, gained sudden popularity when pictures showing her eye-condition were published in a tabloid in December. In the past several months, she has become an Internet sensation with numerous videos and sites dedicated to her.

The zoo’s director Jörg Junhold, told the paper that she will not travel to Los Angeles since it is “important for us to take care of the welfare of the animal”. Therefore the filming will done in the Zoo in Leipzig. He added that revenues will benefit wildlife protection programs.

Her fame recalls Paul the Octopus who became a celebrity during last year’s soccer World Cup. From his tank in a German Zoo he predicted correctly the results for every German game.

Opossums belong to the marsupial family, and are common in North, Central and South America.
