George Jones sausage extravaganza: Country legend George Jones, who died recently, was honored by a Tennessee store when it made more than 1,000 sausage balls--which was Jones’ favorite breakfast meal.

TMZ reported that Brooks Shaw’s Old Country Store in Jackson made the items en masse in memory of the singer, who died at the age of 81 in late April.

Jones was such a fan of the item that he had his own company, George Jones Country Style Sausage, according to its website

“My wife, Nancy, sets the table and it’s my job to fry up the sausage and make sure it’s just right,” he was once quoted as saying.

According to TMZ, the store’s recipe was “quite simple,” using Jones’ sausage, cheese, Bisquick, and milk before cooking them for around 10 minutes.

The website said Jones’ wife got a batch.

Several days ago, a funeral was held for Jones, drawing a number of celebrities, including Alan Jackson, Charlie Danies, Laura Bush, Kid Rock, and others.

“George Jones’ voice was a rowdy Saturday night uproar at a back-street beer joint, the heartbroken wail of the one who wakes up to find the other side of the bed empty, the far-off lonesome whistle of the midnight train, the look in the eyes of a young bride as that ring is placed on her finger, the memories of a half-asleep old man dreaming about the good old days,” Daniels said at the funeral, reported the Washington Post.
