It was just a normal day for a garbage man in Indiana, but something out of the ordinary happened to him.

Muncie, Indiana, sanitation department employee--who just goes by Michael--heard noises and saw odd movement from bags he was about to toss into the garbage truck. When he looked inside the bag, he saw a tiny puppy. The animal was apparently “thrown away” by its owner, according local reports.

The incident took place in 2013, and Michael named the dog Garby. The original owner apparently thought the dog was sick.

“It was just a terrible sound,” Michael said of the noise he heard in the bag. It said, “Save me in dog talk,” he added.

The dog was completely frozen stiff and he did everything to keep the animal warm.
