Gan Jing World, a new U.S.-based information platform, is hosting its first Father’s Day Photo Awards, running from June 1 to the end of the month. Organizers say the winner will receive a grand prize of $1,000.

Participants may upload an unlimited number of photo entries during that period. It could be their best dad moment, father & me photos, or photography to show their love for that special father, according to the company.

“Photos will be judged on creativity, picture quality, aesthetic value, story-telling, and engagement, so set your creativity free and share how Dad has touched your heart!” says the company on its website.

“We want to provide a great platform and help users honor Dads around the world for their unyielding strength, courage, and guidance,” said Nick Janicki, media relations director at Gan Jing World.

The name “Gan Jing World” comes from Chinese, meaning “clean world” in English. Founded by Chinese dissidents who fled communist China, the company seeks to provide a new form of “clean” social media, with the goal of creating a digital town square that is family-friendly.

“Gan Jing World’s mission is to empower people to reconnect to traditional values and morality. The family is the building block of society,” Janicki told The Epoch Times, “We want to celebrate traditional family values like respecting your parents, spending time together, and being kind and compassionate to each other.

“Hosting this event is a great opportunity to bring families closer and reconnect us to these traditions.”

Receiving Heartwarming Entries

Janicki said that the company is “already receiving great entries with heartfelt messages to Dad,” which are “really touching.”

A user by the name of Sam wrote: “My husband is the best dad ever to our children! He is active duty military and every free second he has is spent making memories with our precious family! Here he is with our son on an 8-day trail ride with their horses, taking a break along the trail!” The proud wife and mother upload an adorable photo with the two gentlemen wearing cowboy hats, smiling in the sun.

Janicki said that the event is to “amplify these important messages of thankfulness.”

A user by the name “Crescent” uploaded a photo of the “Superman Dad” working on a gourd. The user wrote that her dad is good at everything, be it farm work or household chores. Most importantly, he has taught the nine children “to keep to righteousness and not to be greedy.”

“These precious teachings have been accompanying us when we grew up so that the nine of us brothers and sisters can live with an upright attitude. We thank our Superman dad for everything!” Crescent wrote in the post.

Lily Yu wants to thank Gan Jing World for providing this platform on which she can say “I love you, Dad!”

Yu’s father passed away five years ago before he turned 100. The photo she uploaded shows her father, who was watching her mother (not shown in the photo) in a hospital bed, with roses brought by her dad on the table, and birthday wishes to her mother on the wall. “They have been affectionate with each other all their life, which has deeply impressed me,” she wrote in the post.

The father of a user named Aaron has been encouraged by the grand prize.

“He said he wanted to enter the contest because there’s a prize of $1,000 to win. If we win, I should probably get a share of the prize,” wrote Aaron, who uploaded a photo of the ambitious father with three children.

Father’s Day

Father’s Day falls on the third Sunday in June to honor fathers. Sonora Smart Dodd of Spokane, Washington, is credited with starting the holiday.

Inspired by a sermon on Mother’s Day in 1909, Dodd felt strongly that fatherhood should be recognized as well, as she held her father in great esteem. William Jackson Smart, father to Dodd and her five siblings, was a Civil War veteran and raised his six children after their mother died in childbirth.

The first Father’s Day was celebrated on June 19, 1910, the month of the birthday of Dodd’s father. In 1924, former President Calvin Coolidge gave his support to the observance, and in 1966, former President Lyndon B. Johnson issued a proclamation recognizing the day. It became a national holiday in 1972 when former President Richard Nixon signed legislation designating the third Sunday of June as Father’s Day.

Gan Jing World: A Truly Family-Friendly Platform

GJW’s principle is “to ensure family members can enjoy our platform with confidence and peace of mind,” said Janicki.

He said that the platform showcases how technology can be used for good: to bring people and family together, and to protect people, especially children’s data, through the company’s strict data privacy policy.

“At Gan Jing World, we place the utmost importance on curating and promoting family-friendly content, free from violent, erotic, criminal, and harmful content. Our proprietary technology filters out negative subject matter to create a worry-free experience,” said Janicki.

Janicki added that other than the web and mobile app, Gan Jing World is also on Roku, now so people can enjoy the content together on a big screen.

“[Father’s Day Photo Awards is] actually a really good family activity,” said Janicki. He invites readers to spend some time checking out each other’s entries and watching videos on Gan Jing World.
