The “Galaxy 11” soccer (football) team has been chosen for the “Winner Takes Earth” game, a previously mysterious set of scenarios that has since been revealed as a large-scale Samsung ad campaign.

Franz Beckenbauer, the only person to win a World Cup as both a player and a coach, has described the game as a final showdown between aliens that have come to Earth and humankind.

“I’m very serious,” said Beckenbauer.

“The fate of mankind hangs in the balance, and I fear that the winner takes Earth.

“It’s ironic that after all this time, it will not be the military or our science that will be our salvation. It will be football that saves the planet.”

After choosing Lionel Messi as team captain, Beckenbauer has now chosen the other players as well.

The other players include Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo, Alexander Kerzhakov, Landon Donovan, Wayne Rooney, Iker Casillas, Lee Chung-Yong, and Radamel Falcao.

Victor Moses, Stephan El Shaarawy, Wu Lei, Oscar dos Santos and Mario Gotze were also chosen, making 13 players on the team.

While the mysterious campaign has been exposed as a Samsung ad, it’s unclear what the final event will be.
