Gaithersburg Elementary School and Oak Middle School in Maryland are on lockdown on Thursday after a shooting nearby. Gaithersburg Middle School and Washington Grove Elementary School are under shelter-in-place orders.
All schools have been cleared to dismiss students, said Montgomery County Public Schools public information officer Dana Tofig via Twitter.
A person was shot and killed on North Summit Avenue and police are searching for suspects.
The Montgomery County Police said it is searching for two suspects–one was wearing all black clothing, while the other was wearing a black and white striped shirt.
The shooting happened just before 2:30 p.m.
