Gaithersburg Elementary School and Oak Middle School in Maryland are on lockdown on Thursday after a shooting nearby. Gaithersburg Middle School and Washington Grove Elementary School are under shelter-in-place orders.
All schools have been cleared to dismiss students, said Montgomery County Public Schools public information officer Dana Tofig via Twitter.
A person was shot and killed on North Summit Avenue and police are searching for suspects.
The Montgomery County Police said it is searching for two suspects--one was wearing all black clothing, while the other was wearing a black and white striped shirt.
The shooting happened just before 2:30 p.m.
