Josh Gad’s family was stranded in Florida.
Meanwhile, Hurricane Irma was approaching and millions of people were told to evacuate. The Florida governor called Irma “the most catastrophic storm” ever for the state.
When Kristen Bell heard that Gad’s family was stranded, she acted fast and had everyone move into her Florida hotel.
This isn’t the first time the pair are part of a heroic tale. Bell and Gad co-starred in Disney blockbuster ‘Frozen’ where Gad acted as the voice of magical snowman Olaf and Bell played the voice of Anna, a fearless heroine.
“Kristen Bell literally saved my parents and my entire family tonight from Hurricane Irma,” Gad wrote in an Instagram post publicly thanking Bell.
“When they were stranded in Florida,” Gad continued, “she got them a hotel room at her hotel in Orlando and saved them, my brothers, my sister-in-law, and niece and nephew.”
Gad accompanied his message with a photo of his smiling parents and Bell.
“They don’t make them like this girl. Thank you, Kristin,” Gad wrote. “You are truly an angel sent from above.”
Bell said on social media that she didn’t have an option to leave and decided to stay put in Orlando, which is located in central Florida, far away from the areas at risk from major flooding and devastating winds.
She posted a photo of herself on the way from a grocery store on Friday with a case of bottled water and food on a cart.
Bell was touched by the sense of community as the storm neared, with everyone helping those around them.
“Every person I passed today was assisting someone else,” she wrote. “It was beautiful to see. Sad that a hurricane has to bring out the best in everyone, but happy that the community will be holding hands through this.”
Hurricane Irma is already beginning to impact Florida. More than 25,000 people lost power on Saturday morning as the outer bands of the storm reached Florida.
The storm has taken the lives of at least 21 people so far as it ravaged a series of small islands in the Caribbean.
