A 25-year-old Frenchman was arrested in France for hacking into the Twitter accounts of President Barack Obama and other famous people, The Telegraph reported.

The FBI and French police had been investigating the intrusions for some time. Using the online name Hacker Croll, much of the French hacker’s success came from simply guessing passwords rather than complex technical maneuvers.

In France, punishment for hacking into databases can mean a two-year prison sentence. President Obama has been the most Web savvy candidate and president the United States has had, using Twitter, texting, a Blackberry and YouTube to communicate.
