There’s a widely spread post that claims one can “Get [a] Free £250 ASOS [As Seen On Screen] voucher Now,” and there’s only 259 left, but it’s really a scam.
Another variation says one can “claim your Free £250 ASOS Voucher. Only a few left.”
According to security expert Graham Cluley, “So, it’s quite possible, that you know young people who would buy products from ASOS, and so you might not be surprised if you see them share a message like the one above.”
But he said that it’s a scam.
“If you click on the link, you are told to share the link with your own Facebook friends and make some realistic-looking comment about how grateful you are to ASOS for their generous offer, before you stand any chance of finding out if you have won the £250 ASOS Gift Voucher or not,” he wrote.
Sharing the link then spreads the scam even further.
There’s a number of scams spread via Facebook, including ones with purportedly gruesome videos, including one of a shark eating a man, the world’s largest snake in Brazil, and a massive car accident. None of them actually include real videos and instead ask one to share the post, which then directs the user to a bogus survey question field.
