HONG KONG—Defending champions Kowloon Cricket Club defeated Craigengower Cricket Club over the weekend to maintain their 100 per cent record in the new Lawn Bowls Premier League season.

After the poor weather in the last two weeks that killed a large number of games, last Saturday May 24 saw a welcoming sight of sunshine and all games proceeded as scheduled.

KCC visited CCC on the back of three straight 6-2 wins, in the new season, while CCC won their first game 8-0 at home against the Police, their second and third games were washed away by poor weather.

The two teams played under intense pressure as both teams share the best record of top flight titles with 14 trophies each. KCC has won four titles in the past seven years, while CCC’s latest achievement dates back to 1994 when they celebrated their centenary.

In the match between two ex-Hong Kong internationals Danny Ho and David Tso, Ho wraped up the game 25:10 for KCC without much trouble.

The KCC rink skipped by Chadwick Chen narrowly defeated 1980 World Bowls gold medallist, George Souza, in a tightly competed match.

The responsibility of getting the last two points for KCC fell on former Hong Kong number one Noel Kennedy, partnered with top Hong Kong bowler Ken Chan. They played against a team skipped by young bowler Lee Ka Ho.

Lee was leading the game 10:6 until the 13th end but Kennedy came back strongly winning a total of 10 shots in four of the five remaining ends to kill the game.

KCC lead the table with 26 points after four games, followed by two promoted teams Tuen Mun Sports Association (18 points) and Taipo Lawn Bowls Club (17 points).

Indian Recreation Club occupied the bottom position with only two points after playing two games.
