Four People Stabbed, Two in Custody After Fight Breaks Out at Birthday Party

Four people were injured at a birthday party in western Michigan on Monday.

Police say a fight began outside a home in Kentwood, and officers responded at about 1:00 a.m. to reports that a person was hit with a bottle. They responded again around 3:30 a.m. to reports that several people had been stabbed. Four people were injured with a knife, according to police.

Unwanted guests had arrived at the birthday party and subsequently, a mutual fight broke out, according to Fox 17 News. All the stab victims are male.

According to a police statement, among the four injured, two were treated for minor injuries and released, one underwent surgery for a serious but not life-threatening stab wound to his arm, and another was in critical but stable condition following surgery. The victim in critical condition had stab wounds all over his body, mainly the chest and neck areas.

Police took two men into custody and referred to them as “persons of interest.”
