TAIPEI, Taiwan—Former Minister of the Department of Health, Shih Chun-jen, attended the performance by Shen Yun Performing Arts Touring Company at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Taipei on the afternoon of Feb. 26. Dr. Shih is the pioneer of neurosurgery in Taiwan. He also successfully promoted public health and preventive medicine as well as organ transplantation in Taiwan.
As one of the leading scholars in the medical community, Minister Shih was impressed with the magnificence of Shen Yun, saying, “This show is indeed a great euphonic and audio feast. During the two-hour show today, the performance was so colorful, full of variety, and the choreography was excellent. The dancers were exceptionally graceful. All the artists are well-trained. I enjoyed it very much, and I am grateful to those who invited me to be here.”
“I am 90 years old. I have been to many countries in Western Europe and have seen a lot of performances but it has been a long time since I saw such a wonderful show as Shen Yun.”
“The orchestra is a perfect blend of Eastern and Western musical instruments. The scenery on the backdrops extended the time and space, regardless of whether it was ancient or modern, outdoor or indoor. All of the programs were very beautiful. [The music] synchronized perfectly with the dances. Therefore, I feel very happy,” Dr. Shih added.
Agreeing with Shen Yun’s mission of reviving the Chinese divinely-inspired Chinese culture, Minister Shih noted, “The performance implied the promotion of freedom of belief. It’s very good.”
In conclusion, he said, “I really enjoyed this exquisite performance with many climaxes. I hope that I will have more opportunities to see it again, though I am very old. I really feel like seeing Shen Yun more.”
Dr. Shih is also an honorary fellow of the International College of Surgeons (ICS), which is a global organization dedicated to bringing together surgeons and surgical specialists of all nations, races, and creeds to promote surgical excellence for the benefit of all of mankind, and to foster fellowship worldwide.
