Ford Motor Co. on Monday revealed that sales rose 24.7 percent in April, from 134,401 last year to 167,542 last month.

In 2010, sales have increased more than 33 percent, underscoring a dramatic recovery of the U.S. automotive sector. Chrysler posted similar increases, as did Toyota. Chrysler’s April sales rose 25 percent, while Toyota experienced gains of 24.4 percent in the same month.

Hyundai Motor Co., Korea’s biggest automaker, led the way among large car companies with a 30 percent gain last month. Analysts say that promotions were a big reason for the sales gains.
